In a very interesting turn of events, Netflix and “The Irishman” film have come to what everyone is calling an impasse with AMC and the major theater chains. Theaters wanted a full 90 days in theater before Netflix could stream it and Netflix has been saying no since day one.
Since no deal could be reached, Netflix is allowing some indie theaters to show the film on a limited release for a period of 3 1/2 weeks and will release it to the streaming service on November 27th. It is said that Scorsese was originally hopeful for a “traditional” type release but this type of release method has worked for other films like “Roma”.
Look for “The Irishman” in limited release in the first part of November and then on the Netflix service on November 27th!
